First I saw pictures. Windows into his universe full of colours, strange shapes and his own special harmony. I looked into a universe compared to which our global reality is pale and drab. Then I was introduced to him. Daniel Bidelnica, painter. And we were entertained by journeys, his paintings, by views on art and the art of life. He showed me Bratislava. The only city in the world, where you get halushky in the Irish pub. And he showed me the Danubiana and the splendid exhibition and the painted cows, one of which was his and Peter Dvorský’s. Beautiful is Bratislava, where tenor and painter care for the appearance of cows. And then the symposium at Olšany. Olšany colours 4 + 4. Four Czech artists and four Slovak. And a superb exhibition and smiling opening. An unforgettable week inspired by Daniel. A meaningful week, which founded a tradition of Slovak-Czech artistic reflection. Then Daniel Bidelnica created insignia for the King of Walachia: a crown for the head, a sceptre for one hand, an orb for the other. Artefact insignia to carry or exhibit. Simple and decorative, for ordinary days and festivals, for the moment and for ever: like the universe of Daniel Bidelnica. I should not forget that he introduced me to his wife and his friends. Daniel Bidelnica is the centre of an unforgettable and extraordinary universe. He is surrounded by good and beautiful people. I am pleased to be one of them.
